Winter holiday travel works on its own clock, and it's an unforgiving one. If Thanksgiving is part of your plans, early-to-mid October is when you want that airfare booked. For Christmas, the sweet spot is before Halloween — after that, prices only move in one direction. And if December travel of any kind is on your radar, booking by the end of August keeps you ahead of the curve. Caribbean winter sun travel follows a similar rhythm: 6 to 9 months ahead is standard for locking in the best rates on the islands that get busiest between December and April.

Spring break 2027 doesn't fall on one universal date. Most K-12 districts land somewhere between late February and early April, with many aligning around Easter Sunday, March 28, 2027. The two busiest weeks across the widest number of schools are March 8 and March 15, 2027 — those are the weeks where family-favorite spots like Cancun and other beach destinations get tight fastest. If your family's break falls in that window, we're already inside the booking timeline that matters: 6 to 12 months out for the best availability, and 4 to 6 months minimum for beach destinations that fill up early. I'd rather have your dates in hand now than watch your first-choice property sell out in October.

If Europe is part of your longer-range plans — say, a summer 2027 trip — know that July and August departures fill up quickly, and properties in popular regions can be booked out a year in advance for peak dates. It's never too early to start that conversation, especially for multi-generational trips or villa rentals where the right property only comes around once.

One more thing worth knowing if the Caribbean is calling for a late-summer or fall getaway: hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, with the historical peak around mid-August through mid-October. That doesn't mean the season is off-limits — it means we choose smart. Southern islands like Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao sit outside the main storm belt and see very few weather interruptions, making them solid options even during peak months. Early summer (June-July) and late fall (late October-November) are also excellent windows if you want Caribbean sun without the peak-season crowds or pricing.
